Week One: In the Beginning (1800-1870)

Activity 2: Setting Sail

Dear Jack Rowe,
Last week I was in a waka and we went across the sea.
It was very scary because of the big waves and there was no food.
we had to fish ford food and tea.
My legs were very sore because I could not stand up.
It was boring just paddling and paddling across the sea.
I was tired when the waka finally made it to land.
From James.

  1. Hi James

Welcome the the Summer Learning Journey. My name is Allie and I will be blogging with you over the summer. I really enjoyed reading your story about your journey in a Waka to New Zealand.

I bet that your legs were really sore. Imagine not being able to stand up and stretch your legs for who knows how long.

I like that you have set the activity out just like a letter. It would be a long way to paddle and you would definitely be very tired once you reached where you were going.
I would be very scared too. I think that not being able to see any land and just the really big waves would be scary.

    Good work James

I look forward to reading your posts over the summer.

    Until next time

    Allie :)
